“The name “CYPHA SNIPA” came about in 1999 after realizing that where I felt the most free in our dance was in a raw Cypha. The Cypha is where I can actually bug out freely and be able to catch wreck to the music I chose to rock to.
No judges, no competition, no crowd sitting around watching the show. Just me vs everyone and everyone vs me. Everyone in a perfect circumference.
Hence I came up with the pseudonym “TEKNYC, DA CYPHA SNIPA”.
It is my honor to give NBK my blessings to create an award dedicated to those individuals who chose to pursue and maintain the energy of the CYPHA intact and thus they themselves becoming true CYPHAS SNIPAS.
